Through its long-term partnership with Save the Children, Bvlgari has made a positive impact to the lives of children in need

Children have had a special place in Bvlgari’s charity initiatives over the years. The Italian jeweller has devoted much of its efforts to improving the lives of children worldwide by partnering Save the Children since 2009. So far, the partnership has brought the charity more visibility and heightened global awareness of the need to empower and support underprivileged children. This way, they can receive help in various aspects of life, from having access to clean water, proper nutrition and healthcare to getting an education and learning skills that will aid them in making a living in the future.

Carolyn Miles, who stepped down as the charity’s president and CEO in January, said, “Save the Children has always been determined to uphold the rights of children worldwide and our ambitions to ensure all children survive, learn and are protected, regardless of who they are or where they live, remain bold. We know first-hand that changing a child’s life for the better has incredible, lasting results.”

The relationship between Bvlgari and Save the Children began more than a decade ago with the jeweller creating a special‑edition ring and donating part of the proceeds to the charity. Since then, other custom‑designed pieces have been created to raise more funds for children. Bvlgari celebrated their decade-long partnership last year—coincidentally Save the Children’s 100th anniversary as well—with the launch of a sterling silver necklace inspired by the iconic Bvlgari Bvlgari collection.

It features an onyx disc encircled by the distinctive Bvlgari double logo and topped with a single ruby. On the back is a cut-out of the Save the Children logo, which marks it as a charity piece from which a portion of the sales proceeds will similarly be donated to the organisation. Over the past 10 years, this unique jewellery initiative has raised US$90m for Save the Children with the monies reaching two million needy children from around the world.

Besides creating special-edition jewellery, Bvlgari has also roped in friends of the brand to support the organisation’s activities, including celebrities such as Adrien Brody and Jon Kortajarena who have actively participated in field visits to Save the Children projects involving those impacted by adverse living conditions and disasters.

More recently, these friends of Bvlgari have lent their support to the new #GiveHope campaign, which was shot by British photographer Rankin. The images feature celebrities such as Lily Aldridge, Michael Fassbender and Carina Lau, along with Bvlgari CEO Jean-Christophe Babin, holding the Save the Children onyx necklace as a sign of their support for vulnerable children.

With respect to the amazing journey both organisations have embarked on, Babin said, “In 10 years of shared vision and a century of progress for children, together we could reach for the ‘ambitious’ target of $100m of raised funds and millions of dreams that became—and will keep becoming—true.”
