Nada Jumabhoy, 31

The lawyer daughter of Iqbal and Maniza Jumabhoy, the Singapore Tatler Society Couple of the Year 2017, is a fervent supporter of education‑centric philanthropic initiatives. She believes that literacy creates opportunities for the underprivileged to break out of the poverty cycle.

The most important lesson that my parents have taught me
To treat everyone with the same kindness and respect, regardless of who they are. It is what makes us human.

Favourite family tradition
Lunch every Sunday with my papa’s extended family. His family has been doing this since he was a child, and when it is our turn to host, our helper cooks the same menu that my late grandmother used to make. My mum has been trying to get me to learn, but…

Traits I inherited from my parents
My papa’s love of music and my mama’s sense of elegance and warmth ( I hope)!

Favourite item that my family has passed down to me
I love this pair of jade bangles that my maternal grandmother gave me when I turned four and had my Bismillah ceremony (when a child starts to learn how to recite the Qur'an in its Arabic script).

Assumptions about me
That I’m an only child because my brother Imran has been living in the States for a decade. Come home, Imran!

Chloe Ng, 22

Her mum, social circuit fixture Nina Ng, has been a huge influence in the life of this Fashion Newcomer award recipient at the Tatler Fashion Awards 2019, especially when it comes to style.

Traits I inherited from my mum
Her cheerfulness and confidence.

Style icon
ASAP Rocky. I like how he mixes high fashion with streetwear.

Lust list
The Audemar Piguet Royal Gold frosted watch. I like automatic watches and enjoy collecting them.

Favourite item that my family has passed down to me
Grandma gave me a Patek Philippe watch with a pearl face that I love. I also raid my mum’s wardrobe often—we share a lot of things.

Last family vacay
France and Greece in August last year.
