Yes, BTS’ RM Really Just Released a Solo Single He Wrote While Riding His Bicycle
BTS' leader, RM, just dropped his first solo track since his 2018 mega-hit, Mono, and fans are already raving about how the breezy track is absolutely calming to the ears.
Titled Bicycle, the song, which was released this week, features RM rapping and singing in both Korean and English as he croons about his love of riding his bicycle around the streets of Seoul.
RM spoke about the song on the K-pop group's official blog stating: "My heart always flutters when I ride a bicycle, but whenever I place my two feet on the pedals, I also always feel a bit sad. Maybe it's because there are many things I miss... I, too, don't quite know the reason."
He added that he always felt very free when he rode around on his bike.
"Perhaps it's because I don't have a driver's licence yet, so I've never driven a car before. I wanted to transfer that hazy scenery which always remained out of reach as I rode my bicycle ever since my trainee days, to a song. Those sad but exciting, slightly cold but also warm feelings," he wrote.
RM, who is known for writing most of BTS' hit songs, also confessed that he quite literally wrote the lyrics to his new song while riding his bicycle. The singer also collaborated with John Eun, a jazz singer-songwriter for the song.
RM's song comes on the heals of BTS' highly-anticipated second English track, Butter, which broke a YouTube record for the most views in a 24-hour period and quickly became a global hit with well over 300 million views on the video-sharing site. The song also reached number one on the Billboard 100, making it the band's third Hot 100 debut. On June 7, Butter added a second week at its number one spot on the chart.
