Reduce the signs of ageing and get glowing skin with a new skincare collection that brings on the magical glow of the ‘golden hour'

With age, that luminous and youthful lit-from-within glow is hard to achieve as our skin gets ravaged by the effects of time. Its natural cellular turnover slows down, which results in a build-up of dead skin cells that sit on the dermis and dim reflected light. Also, when skin becomes dry, it lacks the moisture needed to give you that dewy glow. Of course, stress is the biggest culprit. Long hours at work and late nights chasing deadlines also often leave skin looking tired and grey.

To help skin regain its glow, La Prairie found inspiration atop the Swiss Alps, where the sun’s rays sweep across the mountain face, bathing everything in gold. Dubbed the magic hour by photographers and cinematographers, this golden hour is a short window of time just after sunrise or before sunset, where the light is soft and exudes a glow that illuminates everything it touches.

It is this fleeting moment that inspired the Swiss beauty brand’s new Pure Gold collection to address devitalised—fragile, thin, dry, rough, dull and lacking in nutrients—skin and recreate a luminous complexion again.

The secret lies in its new and exclusive Pure Gold Diffusion System that not only scatters gold particles across the skin for an instant glow but also infuses it with replenishing active ingredients attached to tiny submicron particles while ensuring its steady delivery via a time-controlled release to maintain optimal levels and support long-term skin repair and rejuvenation at the same time.

The collection, which is available at La Prairie counters at Takashimaya D S, Tangs at Tang Plaza, Metro Paragon and One Assembly Raffles City, features a trio of treats: Pure Gold Radiance Concentrate, Pure Gold Radiance Cream and Pure Gold Radiance Eye Cream. When used together, the skin is revitalised, radiant and plump with moisture and youth.

Art In Nature

To commemorate the Pure Gold launch, La Prairie commissioned Hong Kong-born artist Carla Chan to create a one of a kind art installation that was first shown at Frieze New York art fair in early May before it was unveiled at Art Basel in Hong Kong later in the same month. Chan drew inspiration from the time spent during her artist residency at The Monte Rosa Hut (pictured), nestled amid the pristine Swiss landscapes facing the Matterhorn, at the invitation of the brand, as well as from the Pure Gold collection. The result is the installation titled Space between the Light Glows By, which not only mimics the time-controlled release of the products’ active ingredients but also illustrates the moments where time and space merge. “We focused on the ‘golden hour’ and that for me is an interesting time period of the day, when the light and the atmosphere are changing unexpectedly. In my work, I try to recreate this moment where there is a shift in time, to create an experience where we feel the light change.”
