5 Things To Do In Los Angeles, According To Tjin Lee
February 6, 2018 | BY Elizabeth Lee
Besides being the Managing Director of Mercury Marketing & Communications and Co-Founder of Crib Enterprise, Tjin Lee is also a beauty junkie at heart. The busy mum of two recently travelled with Cle de Peau to the beautiful city of Los Angeles.
Here are her must-dos in Hollywood central, including the best beauty products for every situation.
1. Take in art
"It may have been an incredibly long flight from Singapore to Los Angeles, but when you're in the City of Angels, you'll want to make every minute count. First stop: The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, which houses over 150,000 pieces of art spanning past and present.
My secret to looking fresh even after a long-haul flight is a three-step regime. First, I use the Cle de Peau Illuminating Concentrate just before the flight (I'm not really into wearing a mask and scaring other passengers on the plane!). Then, I use the new Firming Serum Supreme (pictured, launching in April) and the Protective Fortifying Emulsion while in the air. The formulas are hydrating yet not sticky, so that a foundation or base goes smoothly over it and will last even up to 18 hours."
2. Hunt for Instagram-worthy spots
"Melrose Avenue is definitely the place to head to if you want to shop at independent retailers and visit quirky cafes. It also happens to the best place for Instagram-worthy shots, thanks to all the vibrantly coloured walls, like this bright pink one outside the Paul Smith store.
To always look picture-ready, I turn to the newly re-formulated Cle de Peau Concealer. I’m using the shade Ivory, and am a fan of how it blends really smoothly and lasts all day. It’s also great for touch ups as it doesn't cake, and I would recommend choosing a shade one to two tones lighter for undereye circles."
3. Stay at the Beverly Hills Hotel
"I highly recommend staying at the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel, which also happens to the be the choice for many Hollywood folk. The picturesque surroundings, as well as the pretty peach and green tones, are signature to this establishment. Getting adequate rest is important, and I make sure that my skin is well-protected when I travel. My must-have is the Cle de Peau La Creme which keeps my skin hydrated overnight—a must for when sleeping in air conditioning or heating (during winter) in hotels."
4. Dinner and drinks at Catch
"If those pretty cocktails aren't enough to convince you that Catch is one of the hottest joints in LA, take it from me that it's the perfect place for a girls' night out. One of my favourite lipstick shades is the Cle de Peau Lipstick in Silk Thread but for extra night-time drama, I love layering the Radiant Lip Gloss in Fire Ruby (pictured) over it. It's a rosy luscious colour that keeps lips glossy and moisturised."
5. Meet a celebrity
"What's LA without bumping into somebody famous? I was fortunate enough to meet Felicity Jones, a.k.a Jyn Erso in the Star Wars film Rogue One, and also the new face of Cle de Peau Beaute. She's a fan of the brand's Powder Blush Duo in Blown Rose and it really does look gorgeous on her."
