Innovation is at the heart of the ultra-luxurious Richard Mille RM 07-01 timepiece

Don't let the wealth of gold and precious stones fool you—this is no ordinary fancy timepiece, all flash and no substance. The Richard Mille RM 07-01 may epitomise luxury, inside and out, but a profound level of innovation complements its lavish design. It reflects the Swiss manufacture's determination to equip its ladies watches with the same level of technical expertise as its men's collections. Incidentally, Michelle Yeoh wore this model to the Oscars this year.

The material for the barrel-shaped case ranges from white and red gold to black and white ceramic. The gold cases are snow-set with diamonds. The ceramic versions are also set with diamonds, with individually manufactured red gold prongs holding the stones in place. The dial is gold with its centre decorated with a slew of precious stones and materials from diamonds and sapphires to mother-of-pearl and carbon TPT.

Exclusive to the collection is an elegant open-link bracelet in three different combinations: snow-set for white and red gold, and red gold with Carbon TPT. It comes with a double-deployment buckle to better secure the watch on the wrist.

Its heartbeat is the CRMA2, Richard Mille's second in-house calibre developed exclusively for this collection. The titanium base plate is fitted with a variable-geometry rotor that optimises energy production based on the wearer's motion. The free-sprung balance wheel is resistant against shock, coupled with a fast-rotating barrel storing up to 50 hours of power reserve.

Though largely hidden, the movement components are finished to the highest level, from the satin finish to the electroplasma treatment on the bridges.
