Who Says There Is Only Jewellery At JeweLuxe Singapore?
October 15, 2018 | BY Karishma Tulsidas
JeweLuxe Singapore will exhibit creative and exquisite jewels but that is not all. The premier festival, which is into its second year, will showcase innovative and sometimes mind-boogling horological creations too.
Up from just four participants in 2017, this year’s Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants is a hotbed of innovation in horology, presented by some of the most exciting independent watchmakers
Independent watchmakers tend to be more open to experimentation. Case in point: Swiss watchmaker Krayon, whose first watch, the Everywhere reveals the sunrise and sunset times anywhere in the world.
There is nothing traditional or typical about Vianney Halter’s watches, be it the Antiqua, his claim to fame timepiece that brought the steampunk aesthetic into horology, or the Deep Space Tourbillon, inspired by his love for science.
Bexei Watches by Aaron Becsei
Every Bexei watch by Aaron Becsei is innovative and record-breaking in its own right way, like the Miniature Double Pendule Zappler, the world’s smallest pendulum clock. Because he makes only eight timepieces a year, they are extremely rare.
Singapore-born brand Azimuth conceives out-of-the-ordinary timepieces that derive their aesthetic from genres as diverse as robots, motoring and the sea. The mechanics are top-notch, and made in Swiss watchmaking heaven, Neuchâtel.
JeweLuxe Singapore 2018 takes place from October 12 to 21, at the Tent@Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza. jeweluxesingapore.com
