Physical fashion shows feel like they are becoming a thing of the past as we head into day two of the fully-digital Paris haute couture week. Right after the Chanel show, the livestreamed Valentino presentation will reveal the haute couture spring-summer 2021 collection, named ‘Code Temporal’, at 10pm (Singapore time) on January 26.

It will feature creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli in dialogue with artist Robert Del Naja from English electronic band Massive Attack, who has also created a film for the occasion.

Piccioli has picked a stunning location to highlight the beauty of the Valentino Couture: Rome’s Galleria Colonna, Sala Grande. The breathtaking Baroque palace dates back to the 14th century—history indicates that it even hosted philosopher Dante when he visited the city. The gilded walls of the Galleria Colonna feature in the film by del Naja, which explores the entire haute couture process in a new light.

According to the press release, the film “was filmed and observed by machine learning algorithms and spontaneously edited by neural networks trained by Del Naja’s collaborative partner, neural artist Mario Klingemann”, harnessing artificial intelligence and AI to film, then edited into a cut-up collage-style manner.
