Creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli injects novelty into the perception of men's formalwear with Valentino’s fall 2021 collection
Valentino's creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli continues to reinvent the aesthetics of the maison while upholding its heritage. This time we see the evolution of men's formalwear in its fall 2021 collection.
Piccioli’s belief is that the nature of men’s wardrobe should be versatile, non-conforming, and totally free of traditional concepts and move towards a more expressive, romanticised concept of the modern gentleman: free, punk, and subversive.
For fall 2021, we will see a prevalence of Valentino’s signature embroidery embellishments, tone-on-tone contrasts, as well as drawing inspiration from the prevailing urban culture that values identity and self-expression.

Valentino's take on romanticism begins with tone-on-tone contrasts of black and white with embroidered flowers as part of the formal suit. These embossed embroideries span across formal to casual apparel, invoking a nuanced but expressive look.
