5 Minutes With... Caric Hon, CEO of Larry Jewelry
As the demographic of the luxury jewellery buyer has morphed over the years, it’s become important for major players such as Larry Jewelry to keep up. Caric Hon is well-equipped to take the storied Asian jeweller into its next phase.
A key word espoused by Larry Jewelry this year is versatility, whether in design or in service. It was seen in this year’s Timeless Splendour collection, an annual high jewellery anthology where it demonstrates its highest level of design and craftsmanship.

The masterpiece is the Helios Radiance, which spotlights a mesmerising 4.32-carat pear-shaped yellow diamond, highlighted by a halo of white diamonds. It can be worn in seven different ways, accompanying the multi-facetted woman with panache for a business lunch, a cocktail party, or even state dinner.
As the brand looks keenly forward, we have a chat with CEO Caric Hon and find out what makes him tick.
I start my day... with a fresh mind and I need to be energetic, neutral, cool, calmed down, and relaxed. I need to have a good night’s sleep.
Jewellery… is not just about value, but also about how you wear it, how you make it part of your life, and how versatile it is. It needs to make its wearer smile.
I am doing a GIA course… there are so many things I need to learn. For instance: how to grade a diamond. It requires a lot of knowledge and experience.
My wife… loves my job. Every time I come to Singapore, she says she wants to join me. She wants to shop at Larry here! I’m happy because she has an opinion on the jewellery as well.
I love... talking and sharing. I’m happy that we have a good team of people working together.
It’s important to... stay healthy and energetic. I would like to start exercising, but I haven’t started. I don’t want to make excuses but maybe it’s just not a priority as yet.
My favourite hobby… is shopping with my daughters and wife. If we go out for a meal, we’ll always go shopping together after, and they will ask for my opinion.
