American jewellery brand Tiffany & Co. has announced its appointment of Francesca Amfitheatrof as design director across all of its product groups with immediate effect.

A graduate of London's Royal College of Art, Central Saint Martins and and Chelsea Art School, Amfitheatrof is trained as a silversmith and jewellery designer.

She previously developed jewellery for a number of prestigious fashion houses including Chanel, Fendi and Marni, while her designs have been sold internationally, including at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and Colette in Paris.

Most recently, she served as the founding partner of RS&A, a London-based agency representing contemporary artists.

Amfitheatrof takes the place of John Loring, who oversaw Tiffany & Co.'s design department from 1979 to 2009.
