It's always a good day to treat yourself and there's no better place to do that than at the spa at Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore.

Spas touting themselves as luxurious getaways are a dime in a dozen in Singapore. I've surely experienced a couple that left me thinking that perhaps the only spa we need is in our very own backyard.

But once in a while, in comes a gem that reinvents what it means to squeeze in a little R&R in the weekend. Last year, I spent Valentine's Day getting pampered in a tropical paradise in Sentosa; this year, I stayed in the city.

Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore proves that some urban havens are really just next door. Here are the three treatments that will do you right:

Cello Concerto
Yes that is a real cellist in the photo, and yes there will be one during your treatment. This 60-minute treatment (or should I say, performance?)  incorporates the spa's aromatherapy massage with live music for a truly unique treatment. The acoustics in the two-bed Ritz-Carlton Spa Suite make for one truly immersive hour, as the therapist kneads your tense muscles and loosens your knots over classical numbers by Bach, Beethoven and Brahms. Because the cello is accompanied by other musical instruments playing over speakers in the room, the music here—synchronised with your massage—is louder than what most of us are used to, but that is not to say it's a bad thing.

Tatler Tip The female musician sits facing you throughout the session; if you're not quite comfortable with the arrangement, be sure to let the spa staff know at least 48 hours in advance when you make your reservation.

La Mer Custom Facial
Of all the new La Mer facials offered at the spa at The Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore—the first luxury hotel in Asia Pacific to partner with the skincare brand—the La Mer Custom Facial is truly a one size fits all. The treatment, highly individualised, incorporates the exact products your skin needs to achieve your complexion goals. A pure infusion of the iconic Miracle Broth is a given no matter your concerns; the treatment starts with a generous spritz of The Mist, deep cleansing, serum application followed by a customised massage depending on your concerns, an eye treatment and a mask to finish. During the 1.5 hours, the therapist also lend her hands to your partial body massage—arms, hands, legs and feet.

Tatler Tip Have your post-treatment tea (I recommend the sea salt) in your suite instead of in the public lounge—it's a lot more comfortable and you can enjoy some peace and quite a while longer.

Timeless Indulgence
It's a gorgeous spa, the staff is lovely and I would love nothing more than to overstay my welcome, but there will be days when I know I have to be in an out of an appointment under 2 hours regardless of how much work my body needs. The essentials: my face, for all the cosmetics I wear (don't get me started) and my feet, for all the heels I put them in (I know, I know). I'll come back for the Timeless Indulgence, a facial and partial body massage performed by two therapists at the same time. It combines the La Mer Miracle Broth facial (you'll like the cool magnet massage and ice technique) with a foot care regime, performed under 100 quicker-than-it-feels minutes.

The Ritz-Carlton Spa is open daily from 9am to 11am. Visit the website or call 6434 5203 for more information.
