When Shazreh Rahman steps out of the house, her #OOTD is always a delightful surprise.

Impressive closets are the norm among the sophisticated Singapore Tatler set, but few are as exciting as the house of luxury at the sprawling home of one Shazreh Rahman. Beyond the Fendi decorative pillows and Roja Parfums candles is a closet made of dreams.

The gang is all here—Lanvin’s poetic ruffles, Temperley London’s modern lace, Victoria Beckham’s disciplined lines, Fendi’s Karlito collectibles and Chanel’s latest, greatest hits. Dressing up the mother of four is less of a chore and more of a party—a party without rules, where all reservations are out the door.

“I don’t follow the rules. Fashion is about feeling.”

“I never think about what I should wear, only what I want to wear, and how I’m going to pull it off,” she says confidently with a hint of tenacious authority. But she wouldn’t say wearing heels to pick up her children from school is rebellious behaviour, nor would she call showing up in flats to a cocktail event a risky move.

“There is no normal for me,” she answers when asked about her uniform for day and night. “Today, I’m in my J Brand jeans and Dolce sweater. Tomorrow, I might be in something classic and preppy, like a jacket, or something much flashier.”

That fashion zeitgeist comes from a memory many fashionable women share. It is the one of their mothers putting on pearls and lipsticks before a night on the town. “I wanted to be just like her growing up.” Now that she is, Shazreh is going to town with it.
