Skims by Kim Kardashian West Launches on Net-a-Porter in Time for the Holidays
The festive season is upon us and that only means one thing for most of us: we’re about to feast on ample amounts of gourmet treats and Christmas food. So if you’re afraid that sweatpants will be the only thing that fits you (à la Regina George in Mean Girls) even before 2020 comes to an end, reality TV star and entrepreneur Kim Kardashian West has a solution for you.
After launching it online last year, the stylish influencer has finally brought her full shapewear line Skims to luxury e-tailer Net-a-Porter. While she’s credited for setting enduring beauty trends such as baking and contouring, the aspiring attorney is also famous for her body-hugging outfits that accentuate her enviable figure. Who could forget her “dripping wet” custom Mugler corset-dress at the Met Gala 2019 that ultimately caused a stir on social media?
Kardashian West has always been open about being creative when using shapewear by other brands in the past; she would cut and slice pieces up so that she’d achieve the perfect garment for her body. And after years of doing this, she finally treated her fans (and herself) to her very own shapewear line that comprises undergarments, shorts, tank tops, leggings and more.
But Skims isn’t about hiding your flaws, in fact, it is more about embracing your body and being comfortable in your own skin. The shapewear line is meant to be inclusive, with sizes ranging from XXS up to 5XL and in colours that should suit various skin tones.
“I am so excited to be launching Skims with Net-a-Porter in time for the holidays. I’ve always been such a big Net-a-Porter fan, and I can’t wait to bring Skims to their global customer base to see how they style Skims into their wardrobes in their own unique way,” said Kardashian West, who also owns her own beauty line KKW Beauty.
Below are five of our favourites from the Skims collection:
Even before its official launch, eagle-eyed fans will have noticed different pieces from the collection being modelled by members of the Kardashian clan on Instagram as well as on various episodes of their soon-to-end reality TV series. This crew neck bodysuit has been worn by Kardashian West in several ways, such as paired with patent leather pants or denim jeans. Mimic these tips by the founder herself and you'll be on the right track.
The Solution Short has to be the collection's most innovative piece. It's a one-sided short that is designed to be worn under thigh-high slit dresses or skirts, something that's commonly seen on Kardashian West herself so it only makes sense that she created something like this. This soft micro-short holds in your core, smoothens your thighs, and lifts and shapes your butt.
What's not to love about bralettes? They're so easy and comfortable to wear throughout the day, especially in climates as hot and humid here in Singapore. This plunge bralette by Skims is made of light cotton jersey material so it's perfect for our weather.
Wear this under a form-fitting dress for a smooth and seamless look without having to worry about comfort as it is meant to be suitable for everyday wear. The slip dresses tend to get sold out fast and at the time of writing, it remains out of stock on Skims' official website—so be sure to check Net-a-Porter.
Although this is not exactly shapewear, we just had to include this pair of fuzzy knit pants from Skims' loungewear collection that recently launched as well. It is designed from a breathable and stretchy boucle yarn that makes the pants so cosy to lounge around and sleep in. The soft, elastic waist provides extra comfort, too. The pants come in five colours with matching tank tops and robes. If you're getting the full set, all that's missing is a warm cup of cocoa to complete the look and truly soak in the Christmas season (in the tropics).
