The royal family may have access to the best couturiers in the land, but it is not always Alexander McQueen and Christian Dior for them. Take a leaf from these Duchesses and Princesses who have mastered the art of mixing high street with high fashion.
L.K. Bennett
L.K. Bennett counts amongst the Duchess of Cambridge’s go-to brands for accessories, footwear and dresses. The high-street store’s Lasa Poppy print dress worn by Kate Middleton in 2014 on a trip to Brisbane is perhaps one of her most iconic looks from the label, selling out quickly online. Kate wore the dress again on a visit to Youthscape in Luton last year. On both occasions, Kate let the prints take spotlight, styling the dress with a blue clutch and navy pumps in 2014, and a nude clutch and heels from the label in 2016.
Maje
While The Duchess’ younger sister did not marry into blue blood, she received the courtesy title of Mrs. Matthews of Glen Affric the younger following her marriage to hedge fund manager James Matthew. Like Kate, Pippa Middleton has mastered the art of high-street styling, though she has a preference for casual chic looks. The younger Middleton was seen stepping out in a Maje Rafina poplin shirt dress on her honeymoon in Australia. She completed the summery look with espadrilles from Castaner, and a straw tote by SensiStudio.
