The Excalibur Pirelli Ice Zero 2 showcases both Roger Dubuis' watchmaking and Pirelli's tyre expertise

It's been two years since daring Swiss watchmaker Roger Dubuis and Italian tyre expert Pirelli have become partners in product creation, and their combined oeuvre comprises several watches that combine the best of both worlds. Both brands are, after all, bound together by a mutual dedication to technical innovation and the use of high-tech materials. Their latest creation, the Excalibur Pirelli Ice Zero 2 is certainly no exception.

The watch comes hot on the heels of Pirelli's latest technological tyre invention—named the Pirelli Ice Zero, obviously—which was developed for optimal performance on icy roads in the deep of winter. The tyres have an optimized and patented stud distribution and a tread design that were specially developed to allow continuous grip and driving comfort even on slippery mountain slopes.

Naturally, such an innovation was the perfect partner for Roger Dubuis' signature Excalibur timepiece, known for its extreme skeletonised aesthetics and excellent horological performance. Hence the Excalibur Pirelli Ice Zero 2 was born, pairing the aforementioned watch with a strap modelled after the Pirelli Ice Zero tyres, complete with tread pattern and steel studs in a layout mimicking that of the tyres'. To enhance the icy look of the watch, Roger Dubuis eschewed the black DLC coating that normally covers the case of the Excalibur, allowing the bare titanium to gleam under the winter sun. The result is a resolutely sporty timepiece that would look at home on the wrist of the most hardcore motorsports enthusiast.

The Excalibur Pirelli Ice Zero 2 houses the calibre RD105SQ, which has not just one, but two flying tourbillons for superlative engine performance. Plus, because the watch is certified with the Geneva seal, you can rest assured that it will maintain optimal performance, even if you chose to go for a drive in the deep of winter.
