The French brand has teamed up with Japanese designer Tsumori Chisato to create a shoe that is equal parts comfy and chic.

When you think of Repetto, terms like classic, simple and comfort come to mind. Throw Japanese designer Tsumori Chisato into the mix and you’ve got an unlikely fashion collaboration that’s bound to delight fashion fans everywhere.

Founded in 1947, Rose Repetto created her first pair of ballet shoes on the advice of her son Roland Petit, who was a choreographer. Using the traditional method of “stitch and return”, the shoes were made by hand and were one of the most comfortable flat shoes around. Just a few years later, famed French actress and fashion icon Brigitte Bardot came calling and the rest, as they say, is history.

For this particular collaboration, Tsumori Chisato designed two exclusive models of the Zizi Oxford shoe with her usual whimsical touch. Decorated with polka dots and cat paws, the shoes are a reflection of the Japanese designer’s quirky sensibilities and even feature cat ears cut out on the tongue of the shoe as a homage to Chisato’s beloved pet cat. Available in two colour ways–black with white polka dots and white with gold polka dots–the shoes also come with two pairs of shoe laces to allow the wearer to choose between a classic or more graphic style.
