Chanel Takes Us On A Voyage With The Nautical Themed Cruise 2019 Show
With Chanel, their shows aren’t just your regular fashion shows but an immersive experience into Karl Lagerfeld’s inspiration for that season.
Forgoing an exotic destination, this time Karl Lagerfeld surprised us with a location closer to home, choosing to stage the cruise show in the Grand Palais. That didn’t mean the show was any less grand. The brand took the theme literally and brought the audience on a voyage by erecting a giant cruise ship as the backdrop (and after party venue) for the runway show.
The nautical theme carried forward onto the clothes, featuring French Riviera staples likes stripes, sweaters, Mary Jane flats, and what is bound to be a street style favourite, berets in many different fabrications and colours.
Matching twinsets seemed to be a focal point for the collection, with Lagerfeld championing this effortless and easy way of dressing. While it wouldn’t be Chanel if the usual tweed offerings weren’t present, leather and distressed denim pieces were also present, a move Coco Chanel herself would have definitely have approved, being a rebel herself.Check out some of our favourite looks from the collection.
