The spotlight is on luminous, glowing skin this season, from illuminating eye and face creams to sheer and dewy base makeup. It's also a month of firsts—Hermès launches its debut beauty line with a collection of lip makeup, while Gucci Beauty introduces the first mascara to its repertoire of lipsticks. The first chapter in Hermès’ foray into beauty, Rouge Hermès features a collection of refillable lipsticks, alongside other lip products and accompanying objects. Available in 24 hues and two finishes—satin and matte—Rouge Hermès draws inspiration from Hermès’ existing archives of 75,000 shades that colour its silks. Captivating notes of sandalwood, arnica and angelica evoke a natural and nurturing scent signature to the brand, developed by Hermès’ nose Christine Nagel.
Available from March 4 at Hermès’ Liat Towers, Marina Bay Sands, and Takashimaya boutiques.
The first eye cream to be formulated with La Prairie’s patented illuminating molecule Lumidose, the White Caviar Eye Extraordinaire brightens up the eye area by amplifying the skin’s luminosity through colour, reflection, and shape. Lumidose targets chromatic disturbances that result in dull skin, while golden caviar extract helps to increase collagen production to refine and redensify the eye contour. The formula is enhanced with La Prairie’s exclusive Cellular Complex for a youthful, rejuvenated complexion.

After expanding its lipstick collection in various finishes, Gucci Beauty has launched its first mascara in pure, intense black. Featuring a thin brush tip, the Gucci Mascara L’Obscur’s flexible elastomer brush is incredibly versatile—capturing even the smallest lashes from the corners of the eyes to create a natural, subtly fanned-out look, or a bold voluminous finish by applying the wand horizontally or vertically. The rich, creamy formula leaves a comfortable and fast-drying film on lashes, which promises to last up to 12 hours.

Dior welcomes spring with a limited edition Garden of Light collection, inspired by a Japanese garden and its blossoming trees. The Nude Luminizer in Blushing Light features an exclusive imprinted motif of gingko leaves. Offering an iridescent assortment of pink and beige, the illuminating powder imparts a radiant, rosy glow that sculpts the face and enhances the complexion.

Joining Chanel’s premium Sublimage line is the new La Crème Lumière, which completes the La Collection Lumière with the La Lotion Lumière Exfoliante and the L’Essence Lumière. Vanilla planifolia PFA continues to be the star of the collection, lending its revitalising power to the luscious cream, while natural anthyllis extract regulates pigmentation to improve skin tone and clarity. Vanilla planifolia water is also added for its antioxidant properties for a radiant, youthful complexion.

In support of the Amazon Conservation Team (ACT) and their work in preserving the hummingbird’s rainforest habitat, Chantecaille’s spring 2020 Lip Chic collection features four vibrant glossy shades—Lupine, Coral Bell, Passion Flower, and Honeysuckle—named after the flowers that these birds pollinate. The limited-edition collection is packaged in four iridescent magnetic cases in blue, pink, orange and green, and emblazoned with a hummingbird. Profits from the sales of the collection will support one of ACT’s project to protect prime bird habitat near the Putumayo River in the Andes Amazon, Columbia.

After seasons of shine-free matte skin, glowing skin is back in trend for 2020. Following the success of the matte-finish Black Foundation, Hera’s latest Glow Lasting Foundation creates a sheer, dewy complexion that lasts for up to 24 hours. Formulated with Hera’s Sheer Voluming Complex, traditional oils and pearls are replaced with a film of flexible polymers, reflecting powder and radiant oils to enhance the reflection of light, while the South Korean brand’s Unifit technology coats the fine powders with amino acids for a thin fluid texture that offers buildable, seamless coverage.

Enhancing the results of the L’Essentiel Natural Glow Foundation, the new L’Essentiel Pore Minimiser Primer creates a natural mattified base by controlling areas of shine throughout the day. Formulated with 97 per cent naturally-derived ingredients, avocado extract is blended with white cocoa beans to control excess sebum and refine pores, while prebiotics from yacon juice is combined with probiotic derivatives to support the skin’s microbiome. Used between skincare and makeup, the primer creates a light but protective barrier on the skin and helps boost the coverage of your foundation.

The highlight of Laura Mercier’s Pure Canvas Primer collection, the Supercharged Essence is a lightweight water-based formula that visibly smoothens and primes skin for your base makeup. Featuring beauty-boosting peptides for firm and supple skin and Marimo pearl to enhance the reflection of your complexion, the Supercharged Essence is silicone-, sulphate- and paraben-free.

We know that oxidative stress occurs when the skin is exposed to UV rays, but did you know that it can also occur from the metabolism of oxygen in your body? This means that even unexposed skin is in need of antioxidant care—and that includes your vulva. Two L(i)ps’ latest cream, De-crease, is formulated with antioxidant-rich Baikal skullcap, green tea extract and oil-soluble vitamin C, as well as marine water micro-algae to protect your face, body and vulva from free radical damage and restore the suppleness of your skin. The lightweight formula is best applied at night before your moisturiser and as the last step of your vulva care routine, followed by a sunscreen of at least SPF30 the next morning.
