My Double Life: Shireena Shroff Manchharam
Who says you have to choose one over the other? Shireena Shroff Manchharam juggles the corporate and creative worlds effortlessly.
On mondays, tuesdays and thursdays, 33-year-old Shireena Shroff Manchharam may be knee-deep in brainstorming sessions with clients on their brand imaging and planning training programmes for multinational corporations. The rest of her week couldn’t look more different. Colourful leather samples and fresh sketches cover her workspace. She might even be in Bali, checking on the production of her latest snakeskin bags. Such are the contrasting lives of the founder and principal consultant of Sheens Image Consulting, who’s also founder and designer of House of Sheens. Naturally, her closet is as fluid and adaptable as she is. She doesn’t hide her big and bubbly personality even when corporate duty calls. Armani’s classic, timeless everyday pieces layered with stacks of risk-taking rings, bangles and larger-than-life necklaces sounds like her.
On the other hand, she admits that she channels a “more-is-more philosophy of dressing” and she “never wears flats—heels have to be at least three inches high” when professional business attire is not mandatory. “I don’t do delicate or feminine really well,” she tells us, opting for a little drama and, dare we say it, diva in her style. When one can make a gold tarantula cuff and elaborate Shantanu & Nikhil dresses (she likens them to wearable art for princesses) look as good as she does, we say, “Bring it on!”
