Together with prolific perfumer Francis Kurkdjian, Christopher Bailey has designed a new men’s fragrance — inspired by Burberry’s heritage trench coat.

For discerning men who are fans of Burberry’s heritage trench coats — a street style staple that transits smoothly from work to weekend — now there’s a scent dedicated to it. Mr. Burberry, the latest men’s fragrance is the brainchild of Christopher Bailey and perfumer, Francis Kurkdjian.

If you’re wondering, no it doesn’t smell of the rain. Expect crisp zesty grapefruit combined with sensual vetiver and smokey guaiac wood in this woody eau de toilette. “Contemporary yet classically British in its structure, Mr. Burberry radiates modern and masculine sensuality,” says Francis Kurkdjian.

Close attention has also been given to the bottle design, which is inspired by the black heritage trench coat’s detailing. The bottle cap, for example, references the coat’s horn-look buttons and it’s finished with a hand-tied knot — made from black gabardine, a fabric invented by Thomas Burberry — around the neck.

Burberry has also introduced a personalisation service, monogramming option via its website and selected stores to engrave your initials on the bottle. Those who take skincare as seriously as the perfume and clothes they wear, will like the grooming products, including an aftershave splash, moisturiser and beard oil.

“Mr. Burberry is our most significant men’s fragrance to date. Inspired by the iconic Burberry trench coat and by London, a city of great contrasts and contradictions. It is traditional yet irreverent, elegant without being pristine,” says Christopher Bailey, chief creative and chief executive officer of Burberry. “It perfectly encapsulates a mood and an attitude that today’s Burberry man will recognise as his own.”
