And it's luxury embodied.
Everyone who knows the name Moynat knows that it is synonymous with understated luxury. Once known as a creator and purveyor of luxurious travel trunks and accessories, the house has since expanded to functional handbags that while simple and sensible in design, is made with superior quality and craftsmanship and the epitome of French savoir-faire.
Since its inception in 1849 by Pauline Moynat the only female trunk-maker in history, Moynat set out to single-handedly transform a male dominated industry in a unique way by fusing two of her passions: exceptional French craftsmanship and theatre. Pauline Moynat sought to push the boundaries of design with innovations from feather-like trunks to waterproof finishes and would go on to become the official supplier to French theatre house The Comédie Française. The house has since been revived in 2011 under the artistic eye of creative director Ramesh Nair (previously a senior designer at Hermés).
Having already opened stores in Hongkong, Tokyo, Seoul and Japan, it was only natural that Singapore would be the next stop for the brand.
Here’s what you need to know about the new Moynat Gallery.
It’s their first store in Singapore
Apart from its flagship boutiques in the fashion capitals of the world—there's 348 rue Saint-Honoré in Paris, 937 Madison Avenue in New York and 112 Mount Street in London—Moynat has 12 boutiques in eight cities around the world and now, Singapore is honoured to be its ninth international destination. The Gallery will be located in Takashimaya Shopping Centre at Ngee Ann City and will carry both men’s and women’s leather goods and accessories, trunks and textiles.
