The Memovox alarm makes a return, and it's better than ever

In haute horlogerie, the mention of chiming watches rarely brings to mind an alarm, like the one you set on your smartphone to wake you from slumber in the morning. Chiming watches almost always are minute repeaters. Yet in the 70 years of its existence, Jaeger-LeCoultre's Memovox from the Master Control collection has made a name as a fine wristwatch with alarm function. The sound of the alarm in the following watches resembles that of the "school bell".

Although inspired by the first Memovox watches in the 1950s, the new Master Control Memovox in 40mm steel case has a contemporary minimalist look—simple, handsome, and with a date display on silver sunray dial. The indexes are in a slender triangular shape, complemented with Dauphine hands and a blue seconds hand for that understated pop of colour.

The Master Control Memovox Timer switches things up with the ability to set a timer based on the number of hours before the alarm rings. An inner ring engraved with bas-relief displays the elapse hours on which to set the timer. This nifty addition to the automatic Jaeger-LeCoultre Caliber 956 is paired with the traditional alarm function.

The steel watch comes with a blue dial and is limited to 250 pieces.
