(Relaxnews) - Swiss watch brand Richard Mille is innovating once again with an extra flat automatic watch with pure lines and a refined design, temporarily forsaking its much-loved sports models

The RM 67-01 Automatic Extra Flat watch will be unveiled at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (International Fine Watchmaking Exhibition) which will be held in Geneva from January 18 to January 22, 2016.

A new version of the RM 010 Automatic watch by Richard Mille has been created and, for the first time, the model manages to combine a tonneau-shaped case with an extra flat form. An impressive technical achievement, as each case is the product of more than 215 separate machining operations. Several additional work hours are therefore required compared to the other cases in the collection.

This sleek automatic watch is only 7.75mm thick. It's powered by a skeletonized CRMA6 automatic movement, a new caliber that is only 3.6mm thick. It displays hours, minutes and the date and has a function indicator. Its power reserve is 50 hours.
The back of the movement reveals a very high degree of skeletonization which is visible on the barrel, the rotor, the gear train and the bridges of the automatic winding mechanism. Bordered with a coating of Luminova, the date window is positioned at 5 o'clock in a vertical opening, and the function indicator is located between 1 and 2 o'clock. This indicator, which can be moved by simply pulling the crown, makes it easy to see the winding, date setting and hand-setting positions.

The indices are made of metal and mounted on two linked and rigid titanium rails attached directly to the movement. Each index has been filled with Luminova for better readability in the dark, which is a first for Richard Mille.
