Jewels & Time: Louis Vuitton Releases LV Volt, a Unisex Fine Jewellery Collection

Louis Vuitton’s initials are linked up, taken apart, turned upside down and more to depict movement and energy in Volt, the brand’s new collection of unisex jewellery.
Francesca Amfitheatrof, Louis Vuitton’s artistic director for watches and jewellery, manipulated the letters in a variety of ways to create modern, mix-and-match designs. The LV Volt range features a small v cradling a diamond incorporated within a capital L, which can be worn as a series of pendants in white, rose and yellow gold, all with an adjustable chain. In LV Volt, the L and V are combined to resemble a thunderbolt or pulse line, a design that is particularly striking when worn as a pendant set with diamonds and attached to a yellow gold chain; the same design is available as a bangle.

The letters are turned into a repeat stroke pattern in the Multi design, which is available as stacking rings that come in white and yellow gold, while the Mesh pattern has the L and V arranged to resemble a mesmerising pattern of triangles. A pair of diamond-shaped earrings in the Mesh pattern is one of the standout pieces. The LV Volt pattern intertwines the letters to create statement-making bracelets, earrings and necklaces—the bracelets are available in two widths that can be paired together for great effect.
Louis Vuitton introduced the collection in a campaign shot by photographer Jean-Baptiste Mondino and featuring actress and brand ambassador Alicia Vikander, painter Sharon Alexie, model Xiao Xing Mao and Hugo Marchand, principal dancer at the Paris Opera Ballet. Shot against a clean, pale blue background, the campaign features the stars rocking the LV Volt pieces, and an enviable athletic glow, while seemingly in movement.

The collection wasn’t made to sit idle in a jewellery box and has made its first red carpet appearance already, with French-British actress Stacy Martin wearing the LV Volt ring and a pair of LV Volt. earrings at the Venice Film Festival in early September, matched with an outfit from Louis Vuitton’s cruise 2021 collection.
