Karl Lagerfeld Dies Aged 85
German-born fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld has passed away in Paris.
The creative director of Chanel and Fendi had missed the spring/summer 2019 Chanel couture show earlier in January this year, as "he was tired [that] morning", a spokesperson had said—a first since Lagerfeld took over the brand three decades ago.
According to media outlets, the 85-year-old had been feeling unwell for two weeks, before being admitted and passing away in a Paris hospital.
One of the most iconic designers of his generation, 'Kaiser Karl', as he is affectionately known in the fashion world, once quipped, “I’m very much down to earth, just not this earth”.
