Jason Wu’s Grooming Secrets

The New York-based Canadian fashion designer describes his daily routines.
From presidential dresses for Michelle Obama to outfits for Reese Witherspoon, Canadian fashion designer Jason Wu is styling big names from the east coast to west. Recently partnering up with long-time friend and founder of beauty brand Caudalie, Mathilde Thomas, Jason has created limited edition products for the Caudalie range. Taking a break from his celebrity styling, he divulges his lifestyle secrets and grooming favourites that keep him on top of his crazy schedule.
Beneath the Mask
“My grooming routine is minimal. I usually cut my own hair. I cleanse with Caudalie’s Instant Foaming Cleanser and I also steal female friends’ SK-II Facial Treatment Masks.”
“I always travel with Caudalie’s Beauty Elixir, for which I designed the limited edition bottle. Spritzing after a long flight is almost like coffee for my skin. It’s also great during show prep. The light scent of mint is a perfect refresher and it immediately makes me feel revived.”
“I always have the same thing for breakfast: two hard-boiled eggs, orange juice and iced coffee. Lunch is usually a salad or sushi. For dinner, I love cooking at home.”
A Place to be Pampered
“The Caudalie Vinothérapie Spa at The Plaza is my favourite place to unwind. I love the merlot wrap—it’s the perfect 30-minute rejuvenating interlude in my busy schedule.”
“I always have a Byredo cotton poplin candle burning to keep me zen.”
“I wear Byredo 1996 fragrance every day.”
“Drinking a lot of water is extremely beneficial to your body. I also drink a glass of red wine every night with dinner. Mathilde Thomas taught me that the resveratrol in wine is the best way to nourish your body.”
