Watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre has joined forces with Christian Louboutin on a collection celebrating the 85th birthday of its Reverso timepiece.

The shoe designer has taken the Art Deco-inspired Reverso Classic Duetto as a blank canvas upon which to let his imagination run free, combining colours and materials with an artist’s instinctive flair. Drawing on his travels as inspiration, the watch features vibrant, iridescent and shimmering hues that represent the covered galleries of Paris, the carved wood lattice work of North Africa and oriental stones.

For certain models, the designer has also drawn his inspiration from the universe of his shoe collections, with each model in the collection playing with classical design codes while respecting its identity.

For Louboutin, a watch is inseparable from its strap, and the designer has given each Reverso model a strong, original identity. Exuberant, transparent, glowing or ultra-feminine, the Reverso is clothed as if for an exceptional event.

The watch retains its emblematic face on the front, with pure, classical Art Deco lines, while the back, framed by two rows of diamonds on either side of the dial, displays the quirky Louboutin influence.

Like the carapace of a scarab beetle, one creation is adorned with an iridescent dial and strap. Another is fitted with a transparent plastic strap that makes a perfect match with the mirror-style back dial, while a third model features a textured white mother-of-pearl dial, teamed with a strap subtly hinting at the imprint of the iconic Louboutin shoes.
