What will you be wearing when party season arrives? In collaboration with Net-A-Porter's newly launched Jewellery and Watches Suite, we've curated four on-trend looks for the next season—because it is never too early to start shopping

With autumn/winter 2018 collections going wild—we’re talking animal prints, gloss, and metallics, and splashes of colour—we can’t wait to experiment with all the different trends for the season. After all, it is ball season.

But an outfit is never complete without the perfect accessories, so we’ve put together a few on-trend evening looks from Net-A-Porter’s Fine Jewellery and Watches Suite, with styling notes from Net-A-Porter's global buying director, Elizabeth von der Goltz.

The newly launched suite—which stocks a diverse selection of 50 brands, from classics like Chopard to new labels the likes of Messika—curates an exquisite assortment of fine jewellery and timepieces, complete with styling advice, trend reports, and dedicated assistance from personal shoppers trained by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). Services include "Try Before You Buy", 24/7 customer service, making reservations, and placing bespoke orders for one-of-a-kind pieces, so you never have to deal with the inconveniences of shopping online.

See our favourite evening looks for autumn/winter 2018 below.

1. Normcore, Made Better

Impeccably stylish yet functional, this minimalist look is perfect for the modern woman and it is anything but boring—add some interest to your ensemble with pops of colours or neutrals. Danielle Frankel's off-the-shoulder gown is a play on classic white shirts and trench coats, complete with a belt and pockets. Sophia Webster's Chiara sandals gives the tailored look a whimsical flair. Accessorised with a unique stone necklace from CVC Stones, a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso One Cordonnet watch, and a Bottega Veneta leather clutch, this is a look you won't mind wearing all night.

"This new mood isn’t as basic as normcore, but it’s also not your fantasy wardrobe. It’s your real wardrobe on a daily basis."

2. Wild Thing

Take a walk on the wild side with exotic prints, from leopard spots to zebra stripes. It doesn't have to come across as vampy either—opt for a classic silhouette in a subtle colour palette, like in this midi dress from Alice McCall, and let your print take centre stage. Gold accessories from Buccellati and Piaget complement this metallic dress, while the velvet shoulder bag from Hunting Season and Aquazzura's leather and suede mules add interest to the ensemble without stealing the spotlight.

"In terms of styling, your animal print should be the focus. It's your statement for the day."

3. A Play On Colour

Just because it's autumn/winter, it doesn't mean you have to put your colours away. Paired with camel, tan or neutral shades, this autumn/winter trend takes a subtle and transitional approach to colour coordination. Pastels have been especially popular and they don't seem to be going away anytime soon. Inspired by the art and interior design of the '60s, Safiyaa's pastel yellow two-piece suit is structured and not traditionally girly. Paired with playful faux fur mules from Gucci, the muted ensemble lets the vibrant jewellery from Ippolita and Delfina Delettrez shine.

"In the past we’ve had bold colours, and now we’re seeing a more subtle take on it... through interesting neutrals. It’s about mixing your palettes in a clever way."

4. Super Glam

As a maximalist would say, "Go big, or go home." Bust out your satin, sequins, and feathers for a million-dollar look. Peter Dundas' sleek sequined gown looks right in place on the red carpet and rightly so—after all, the designer was behind Beyoncé's shimmering gold number at the 2017 Grammys. Max up the glam factor with Foundrae's gold diamond necklace, and diamond and quartz earrings from Larkspur & Hawk. Ombre pumps from Prada and a sleek Plexiglas shoulder bag from Saint Laurent complement the outfit without dimming down the mega-watt ensemble.

"Evening wear was so minimal for so long, and last season, we finally went back to being very glam for evening—and it isn’t going anywhere."
