To celebrate its ties with the Venice Film Festival, Jaeger-LeCoultre has released three commemorative Rendez-Vous Sonatina timepieces, each dedicated to the various stages of love, as depicted in the movies. Sonatina Romance, featured here, duly showcases the watchmaker’s expertise in rare handicrafts, and features a kingfisher atop a cherry blossom tree. This theatrical, hand-painted scene is further elevated by a guilloched frame. 

Van Cleef & Arpels once again takes inspiration from nature, and has harvested a garden this year. The timepiece that has captured our heart is more jewel than watch, and features a dial that hides beneath a dandelion head. Hewn of white, pink and yellow gold and studded with both white and yellow diamonds, the Dandelion Secret Watch reveals another surprise, as the seeds of the corolla heart quiver gently as you move your wrist, thanks to the use of the tremblage technique. 

Here’s a watch that doesn’t skimp on its diamonds nor its technical chops. The first Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept timepiece dedicated to women, this diamond-lavished, 38.55mm watch earns our approval for a myriad of reasons. But what we especially love is the fact that the Swiss manufacture has crafted its first in-house flying tourbillon for a women’s watch.

Luxury watchmakers are focusing on bracelets this year, and nowhere is this more apparent than at Piaget. Its Extremely Piaget collection, which was inspired by a 1970s collection that celebrated the decadence of that era, features a selection of gold engraved bracelets. Each bracelet has been hand-engraved to resemble the texture of fur, frost or wood—how's that for 21st-century decadence? 

The colour of passion comes to life on the cuprite dial of this Jaquet Droz Petite Heure Minute timepiece. The precious stone was sourced from Mexico, and was especially chosen for its fragmented texture that adds dimensionality (and fire) to this special Valentine’s Day launch.

This celestial creation by Girard-Perregaux makes us dream of the stars with its dreamy aventurine dial, and diamond-studded bezel, case and lugs. A day-night indicator at 6 o'clock further elevates the poetic appeal of the timepiece.
