Gucci Beauty Launches In Singapore Next Month: Here Are 4 Must-Haves
In 2014, Gucci launched its first beauty line to much fanfare. A collaboration between then-creative director Frida Giannini and makeup artist Pat McGrath, the colourful collection was launched with a bang—eyeshadows, eyeliners, a mascara, lipsticks and glosses, nail lacquers, a foundation were amongst the beauty line’s extensive offerings—but eventually phased out by 2016.
But fans can now rejoice: after teasing followers with a @guccibeauty Instagram page last September, the beauty offshoot of the Italian luxury house finally relaunched in May this year. Even better news—the 58-piece lipstick collection will launch in Singapore on September 12, and you can register to be the first to experience it here.
Designed and created under the direction of Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele, the line takes on a significantly different direction of its predecessor, as seen from its unconventional, grungy campaign fronted by punk band Surfbort's frontwoman Dani Miller.
A lipstick-only launch may seem tame, but Gucci Beauty has spared no expense in giving beauty lovers a variety of shades in three diverse formulations—the Rouge à Lèvres Satin, a satin finish that comes in 36 shades from nudes to black; the sheer Rouge à Lèvres Voile that offers 18 luminous shades in a pop colour palette; and the Baume à Lèvres lipbalm that imparts three translucent shades as well as one transparent formula to moisturise lips.
But if you are feeling more experimental, Gucci global makeup artist Thomas de Kluyver recommends using them in multiple ways—on your lips, cheeks, and even eyes. We pick out four looks by Thomas for the maison’s Cruise 2020 show and our must-haves from the collection for your beauty inspiration:

1/4 Rouge à Lèvres Voile shade 25* ‘Goldie Red’
In an aesthetic that celebrates individuality, Rouge à Lèvres Voile in ‘Goldie Red’ is applied imperfectly on the lips of the model. The colour star of the collection, this brilliant red is inspired by a legendary Hollywood character, Goldie. 25 is also a reference to Alessandro Michele's lucky number.
2/4 Rouge à Lèvres Satin shade 505 ‘Janet Rust’
Rouge à Lèvres Satin shade number 505 ‘Janet Rust’ with red glitter on top accentuates the lips on an otherwise natural face. The rusty red shade is perfect for warm skin tones.
3/4 Baume à Lèvres shade 2 ‘No More Orchids’
Juxtaposing the strong red of the under eyeline, the model's lips feature a touch of Baume à Lèvres shade 2 ‘No More Orchids’ for a soft coral sheen.
4/4 Rouge à Lèvres Satin shade 700 ‘Crystal Black’
An unexpected shade in the collection, Rouge à Lèvres Satin in ‘Crystal Black’ also doubles up as an eyeliner for a grungey smokey eye. Rouge à Lèvres Satin in shade 104 ‘Penny Beige’ is then applied on the lips here.
