One thing's for sure, fashion people sure can't get over their love for streetwear and luxury brand collabs.
After the overwhelming success with Louis Vuitton x Supreme, it was only a matter of time before another luxury brand joined forces with a cult streetwear label. This time, luxury British heritage brand Burberry has collaborated with streetwear aficionado Gosha Rubchinskiy for a capsule collection that's bound to incite excitement in fans of luxury streetwear.
Designed in collaboration with the Russian designer, the capsule, which will be previewed as part of Gosha's spring/summer 2018 collection includes iconic Burberry pieces reinterpreted through a street wear lens in oversized fits and two-tone gabardine made at their Castleford factory. And in a throwback to the infamous check pattern that popularized the brand in the mid-2000s, the pattern can be seen throughout—from coats, a short-sleeved shirt and tailored shorts, to hats designed in partnership with British milliner Stephen Jones.
Outerwear pieces are re-imagined in oversized shapes—from the Burberry trench coat in two-tone honey and navy cotton gabardine, embroidered with Gosha’s initials, to the car coat with a check cotton-twill bib front and a reversible Harrington jacket. A bucket hat, baseball cap and duckbill cap, all with detachable ear flaps, come in cotton gabardine and check cotton twill.
"Working with Christopher has been a great adventure. Burberry has always symbolized the epitome of classic British style to me. Their timeless pieces are the perfect balance to our modern streetwear creating a great mix. Our extended collaboration, from my spring summer 18 collection to Burberry’s ‘Here We Are’ Zine and exhibition, really embodies what I feel is British culture today, a mix of iconic pieces and youth."
