Getting to know Valentino

For the first time ever, Valentino showed exactly what it takes to make one of their fabulous creations.
The world of fashion has always been an exclusive one, especially for the luxury brands, and so, not everyone has been lucky enough to see those hand-picked artisans of the famed fashion houses at work. But a new wave has arrived at Maison Valentino.
Under the stewardship of creative directors, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, the brand has embraced refreshing changes (think show-stopping looks on the runways, re-branding and a whole new DNA) to bring themselves closer to the public. Last year, a book named ‘Valentino: Mirabilia Romae’ was published and earlier this month, their exhibition, ‘From Memory to Creativity’, showcased everything from how the dresses were made to the designers’ sources of inspiration.
Talking about inspiration, Chiuri and Piccioli, like their Valentino predecessor before them, turn to the magical city that is Rome, where, fittingly, the fashion brand is based. The Eternal City’s rich history, culture and its mix of past and present have been the guiding light for the two designers in creating the new Valentino.
“The artistic installation of Miami ‘From Memory to Creativity’ is an important moment to narrate how our stylistic direction can develop from personal to universal. The concept of ‘bottega dell’arte’, recreated through the work of Pietro Ruffo, glorifies the values of time and the precious manual skills of our Haute Couture Atelier. A performance that celebrates our creative identity, transmitting it towards the future,” said Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli.
With so many good changes at Valentino, we can’t help but look forward to more of the brand’s future collections and collaborations.
