Sustainable footwear

Adidas Philippines has recently launched its latest iteration of the NMD silhouette. Known as a popular lifestyle shoe, the NMD was first launched in 2015. Its 2022 remake is now called the NMD_V3 and features a re-engineered mesh wrapping around the foot, a transparent heel clip, and BOOST cushioning for added comfort. But while Adidas is known for young, dynamic design, it's also taken multiple steps forward to become more sustainable. The NMD_V3 contains at least 50 per cent Parley ocean plastic and 50 per cent recycled polyester, making it a fantastic choice for sustainability. They are easily available in Adidas Philippines stores.

Halloween kicks

October is officially spooky season—and shoe designers are quick to keep up. Vandy the Pink is among those releasing a Halloween-themed shoe. Made in collaboration with Clarks Originals, the footwear features a skeleton design and a chic suede Clarks tag. Other colourways include green, brown, white, and pink.

Earlier on, Nike had also released a more minimalist version of the Halloween shoe. Their Nike Blazer Low 77 Shadow features the iconic check mark in a telltale shadow style. They've also changed up their usual font of choice for a spookier option, emulating the Halloween spirit a month before the official season.

3D printed shoes

Kanye's controversial show in Paris for YZYSZN 9 was met with much criticism. While his shocking "White Lives Matter" t-shirt garnered most of the (negative) attention, a few people did notice new YZY footwear. A new boot was presented on the runway and though its design seems fairly simplistic, its production is a whole other story. Tech company, Zellerfeld, helped produce the footwear using 3D printing, which drastically cuts time in clothes manufacturing. According to Zellerfeld, the boots were finished within a single weekend prior to the show.

Redesigned for women

You may know Givenchy's TK-360 sneaker. Conceptualised by creative director, Matthew M Williams, the shoe itself is made with a custom-moulded silhouette and features a classic stretch knit upper that is integrated into the sole. Needless to say, it became a staple design for the brand. For its fall-winter 2022 collection, Givenchy has redesigned the sneaker to cross over into women's wear. The TK-360+ fuses technical innovation with wonderful aesthetics and features grid-like grooves and contrasting accents of pink and wicket text.
