Kim Kardashian West has brought undergarments to the forefront with her brand Skims, and we speak to the businesswoman to learn more about her favourite pieces and how she incorporates them into her everyday look
If there’s one thing Kim Kardashian West understands, it’s how to create a fabulous figure. The businesswoman is known for wearing super sculpting bodywear that accentuates curves, so much so that she designed her own line of bodywear, Skims, back in 2018.
The brand has since expanded beyond shapewear and includes ultra-soft underwear and plush loungewear, all of which is designed to be worn and styled for all occasions.
And from November 24 onwards, Skims will be now be exclusively available at Hong Kong's Lane Crawford. To celebrate the news, Tatler speaks to Kardashian West about her plans for the future.
When did you realise that bodywear and shapewear was important to your style?
Kim Kardashian West: Shapewear has always been a really important part of styling for me, not only because it helps create a look under clothing, but it also makes me feel confident and comfortable.
What items are your Skims hero pieces? Which item do you think everyone should own?
KKW: Our shapewear is all designed to give you various levels of targeted support, depending on your need. For example, our Sculpting Bodysuit cinches your waist, enhances your butt and smooths your curves all in one, so it’s really a hero item for our customers.
For underwear, I can’t live without our Fits Everybody underwear—it’s buttery soft and stretches to twice it’s size without ever losing shape.

You’ve had a very inspiring year full of change, what lessons have you learned through the personal challenges that you’ve overcome?
KKW: I’m so lucky to have an incredible support system that I can lean on when going through challenging times—my family and friends are my rocks and they inspire and encourage me so much every day.
Tell us about how your style has evolved over the years. Is there any style advice you would have given yourself when you were younger?
KKW: I’ve always loved fashion and when I was younger I really enjoyed experimenting with different trends. Looking back at those old fit pictures now is so fun. Through the years trying new things helped me learn what works best for my body and what I feel most confident wearing, so I wouldn’t change any of it.
What advice would you give to our readers about what trends to wear this winter?
KKW: Comfort for me is key, and anyone who knows me would tell you I hate being cold! So for winter, I love wearing our Skims Cozy collection. You can wear it around the house or out to run errands while staying super warm and snuggly. It’s the best.
