Marking its 90th anniversary, Fendi staged a breathtaking Legends and Fairytales runway show at the iconic Trevi Fountain in Rome.

Fendi is celebrating its 90th birthday this year so it’s fitting for the Italian luxury fashion house to return to its homeland Rome to throw a big party — one that includes closing Rome’s iconic Trevi Fountain to show off their Fall 2016 couture collection.

Such grandeur could only come from fashion maestro Karl Lagerfeld, as models walked on water via a custom-built crystal runway bridge, wearing a collection that was all about enchanting dresses inspired by the 1914 Norwegian folktales in East of the Sun and West of the Moon. On the runway, models wore dreamy numbers that told the tale of a princess’s journey from day to night — including an adventure into the woods that was depicted in the final looks with dark cloaks embellished with fur and floral details.

This also marked the first time that the famous tourist attraction, which had been restored last year with support from Fendi, opened its doors to a fashion house for such a massive show. Among the long list of guests were celebrities like Kendall Jenner who walked the show, Gong Li, Kate Hudson, Tiffany and Anna Dello Russo.
