Emerald City

Never mind that the necklace is studded with mixed-cut diamonds, the emerald-cut blue tourmaline of some 32 carats, which is suspended from the bejewelled chain, is a clear winner. It's not easy these days to source for tourmalines of such clarity and quality. 

Also from the same collection is another similarly impressive creation (pictured above), which boasts slightly more diamonds and has a brilliant emerald-cut non-enhanced emerald that measures some 10 carats. 

Unevenly Balanced

The beauty in symmetry is well-documented but it's not the only success formula. Case in point: this platinum necklace that has 14 carats of diamonds on its chain, which provides the perfect contrast to the vivid pink tourmalines of over 50 carats. Interestingly, the tourmalines come in mixed cuts including marquis cut, emerald cut and cushion cut—this mixture of cuts gives the creation its uniqueness and its lack of conventional symmetry makes it the ideal conversation starter.

From Russia with Love

In February this year, Israeli actress Gal Gadot attended the Oscars sporting the stunning Tiffany Clara diamond necklace. Designed by chief artistic officer Reed Krakoff, the platinum necklace features rows of diamonds of over 65 total carats that graduate in size. Of particular significance is the centre diamond, which measures nearly 11 carats. The stone was responsibly sourced in Russia, which is in line with Tiffany's policy of proper sourcing practices to help promote the protection of human rights, fair and safe labour practices, protection of the environment and ethical business conduct.
