Celebrating a 30-year partnership, Hugo Boss and McLaren have devised a design competition that gives you a chance to dress Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton

It'll be a few months before the Formula One season races onto our shores once again, but we're already starting to feel some of the buzz.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of a partnership between Hugo Boss and McLaren, and most of us may not know it (seeing as the races tend to go by in a blur of excitement), but the fashion company has been outfitting the McLaren team with high-tech Boss Black collections for three decades now. Aesthetics are important, of course, but there's also much consideration to be given to the technical construction of some 20,000 pieces - which outfit the 135-strong team consisting of the racing, marketing and hospitality members - to ensure that they are designed for peak performance and can withstand extreme wear and tear. McLaren Racing has celebrated countless triumphs during the course of the past 30 years, and Hugo Boss has been part of that journey, accompanying legends such as Ayrton Senna, Niki Lauda and Alain Prost on their greatest achievements. Representing the new generation are English drivers, Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton, who are the faces of the new Hugo Boss x McLaren campaign.

To celebrate the 30-year milestone, Hugo Boss and McLaren have put together an online international design competition, 'Dress Me for The Finale. The competition kicked off in February this year, and will run throughout the race season of 2011, with the application process opening up to the 19 race cities ahead of their race dates. Hugo Boss and McLaren will then select one design to be worn at the respective qualifying race. Out of these 19 nominated overalls, there will be one winning design to equip the two Vodafone McLaren Mercedes drivers at the final race in Sao Paolo.

The process is simple: Start by picking your preferred driver, either Button or Hamilton. You can then begin creating your custom design, selecting from 10 basic colours and a range of motifs and patterns. If you're feeling especially artistic, you can also upload your own pictures or patterns. When you're done, it is uploaded to the online gallery, and the winning design will be decided by online voters. Godspeed!
