With polychrome creations, shading effects and designs ranging from architectural to abstract, the new high jewellery collection is more than ever testimony to the skill and expertise of the French label's ateliers. No less than 99 creations feature in this Gem Dior collection, including 38 jewellery sets that were shown at Venice's Palazzo Labia last week, worn with exclusive designs by Maria Grazia Chiuri.

In this collection, colours—as well as precious stones—seem to clash together, ultimately creating an almost natural harmony and evoking "entwined sugar crystals," the French fashion house explains in a news release.

Necklaces, pendant earrings, rings and bracelets come finished with some of the most famous precious stones—such as diamonds, rubies, sapphires and emeralds—as well as more singular gems like spinels, tanzanites, rubellites, garnet and Paraiba tourmalines.

The collection's "Gem Dior" name is a play on words with "J'aime," the French for "I love," which sounds phonetically similar to "Gem." This high jewelry collection officially celebrates the 20th anniversary of Dior Joaillerie.
