He promises a "project that will bridge together sport and style".

Christian Louboutin—famous for his red-soled stilettos—is preparing a unique event for this year's Pitti Uomo, a major trade show in the world of men's fashion. The designer hasn't revealed full details of the project, but he has confirmed that the one-of-a-kind event will have a sporty theme.

On June 13, Louboutin will be hosting an event in a historical setting in the center of Florence, where eight teams from all around the world will take part in a competitive sporting event. It is unknown what types of sports the teams will be playing or what competitors will have to do. As well as watching the events, guests will be invited to take part in masterclasses led by the sportspeople.

"Florence to me has always been a city of leisure. For the first time, I am happy to mix leisure and the pleasure of my work there," said Louboutin in a statement.

Anyone who doesn't have a taste for sport can rest assured that there will also be a selection of new men's footwear designed by Louboutin on show at the event.

A key date in the menswear world, Pitti Uomo will bring the biggest names in the business to Florence on June 13 to 16.
