The Japanese-Filipino actress and film director is the fashion house's first ambassador in Japan

Burberry has tapped Japanese actress, fashion model and film director, Elaiza Ikeda as its newest ambassador. The announcement comes with portraits of Ikeda captured exclusively for the fashion house. The Japanese-Filipino star is Burberry's first ambassador in Japan and has a long-standing relationship with the house, most recently having collaborated on the launch of an interactive virtual replica of Burberry's flagship Ginza store.

"It's such an honour to be appointed as one of Burberry's ambassadors. I have huge respect for Burberry; while having such a rich history and being so loved and trusted at all times, I have also always been surprised by the new ways in which Burberry is able to capture fashion in each of its collections," she said.

"I feel extremely fortunate to have this chance to work closely with the house's creations and to deliver its messages as an ambassador. I'm so excited as I have the feeling that I will also discover my true self while experiencing the heart of Burberry", she adds.

Ikeda made her debut in The Virgin Psychics (2015) but it's her role as Asako Natsume in My Little Monster (2018) that started drawing people's attention. Her performance in the 2019 film, Sadako was highly praised by the audience and she further showcased her acting prowess in the Netflix Japanese drama Followers (2020) as one of the main characters. This year proved to be a big year for the star, having starred in Kakeguri Zettai Zetsumei Russian Roulette and Kakeguri Twin.

More than a fashion model and actress, Ikeda also made her directing debut with Natsu Itarukoro (2020), for which she won the Elle Girl New Director Award. In the campaign photos, set against a backdrop of the iconic Burberry beige, Ikeda wears the long Waterloo heritage trench coat in honey and carries a small two-tone Oympia bag in warm tan—a new signature for the house sculpted from smooth leather with a unique curved silhouette.
