Fashion weeks are back in full force! Kicking things off is Afterpay Australian Fashion Week, taking place in Sydney from May 31 to June 4. It looks set to be a return to life before Covid-19, with fashion shows from Australia's top names—including Romance Was Born, Bec + Bridge, Rebecca Vallance and more—held at the city's iconic Carriageworks and various other locations around city as well. This means that the stylish denizens of Australia will be out in full force on the streets outside the shows as well, bringing back a beloved pillar of the fashion industry: street style.

At the shows, smart tailoring was the order of the day, whether it's a business-like, all-black combination, or a more romantic dusky rose. Similarly, outerwear—trenchcoats, oversized Chesterfield coats, shearling jackets—came in shades of classic camel, comforting navy, and more adventurous pastel yellow. A notable absence: masks were not required at fashion shows and attendees were fresh-faced and smiling for photographers outside the shows. A positive sign of things to come for fashion weeks ahead, perhaps?
