Balmain's Capsule Collection Is Made For The Red Carpet
Dubbed the "44 François Premier" in reference to the address of the brand's original couture workshop under its founder Pierre Balmain, the collection comprises ten show-stopping evening looks.
Images posted to the house's Instagram account showcasing the collection reveal full-length, off-the-shoulder gowns slashed in every way, military detailing, asymmetric hemlines and lashings of sequins, crystals and tulle, with a color palette based on black, blue, green and sparkly metallics.

"Working on #LE44FRANCOISPREMIER collection is a bit of a palette cleanser for me—a chance to return to the beginnings of this house, with the single driving goal being that of creating unique and exquisite pieces, far removed from editorial and runway pressures," reads a comment from the house's creative director Olivier Rousteing on the Balmain Instagram account. In an interview with WWD, the designer elaborated: "With this collection, I wanted to make very light and elegant eveningwear, knowing that we get a lot of requests from celebrities that are in my circle of women I love."
The move is the latest big development for the house, which made the headlines by teaming up with both lingerie brand Victoria's Secret and cosmetics giant L'Oréal Paris on fashion and makeup collaborations respectively, opening up the label to fans opting for more accessible price points.
