Anne Wang-Liu Previews Christie’s Collection Of Fine Jewellery And Watches
Anne Wang-Liu got to spend time with Connie Luk, a specialist at Christie’s high jewellery department, and Alexandre Bigler, who heads up the auction house’s watches department, to find out more about the dazzling pieces on offer at the auctions for Magnificent Jewels and Important Watches this July.
Wang-Liu tried on a necklace featuring a 19.53 carat Burmese Star Ruby and was also drawn to the colour and contemporary design of a bangle set with an 80.08 carat untreated Ceylon sapphire and a 46.80 carat amethyst—both creations by the Hong Kong high jewellery brand Etcetera.
Also on offer are a pair of jadeite hoop earrings that are each accentuated with a single ruby—a modern take on traditional jadeite jewellery that also caught Wang-Liu’s eye as a subtle, elegant pair that she can wear when is she out and about with her family or attending meetings at the HK Ballet Guild.
When it comes to the selection of timepieces, Wang-Liu learned more about a Patek Philippe watch from 1966 that features a unique art deco design in gold and silver—a rare design for a Patek Philippe creation. Another watch among the collection is a vintage Rolex Daytona, a personal favourite of Wang-Liu’s.
