What From the literary arts to the relationship between art and cinema, these are just some of themes explored at this year’s European Union Film Festival (EUFF), at National Gallery Singapore. The 27th edition of the festival offers a diverse selection of 27 films from 27 countries across Europe. With the spotlight on Germany this year, the festival opens with German filmmaker Fatih Akin’s Goodbye Berlin, based on cult novel Why We Took the Car about two youngsters on a road trip across the country’s eastern region. The EUFF also presents short films by students and alumni of Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s School of Film and Media Studies, continuing its long tradition of collaborating with film schools in Singapore.

For the first time since its inception in 2010, the company stages its first original work, Tango, by local playwright Joel Tan. This modern tale of compassion, inclusivity and hope is directed by Tracie Pang. At Drama Centre Theatre.
