This is her first public event since coming out of the official royal mourning period of two weeks

Queen Elizabeth II attended her first public engagement on Tuesday since the funeral of her husband, Prince Philip. The Duke of Edinburgh died on April 9 and was laid to rest in a sombre funeral that was live-streamed around the world.

The Queen, who celebrated her 95th birthday just last week, got on a video call with two foreign diplomats. These were Ivita Burmistre, the ambassador for Latvia, and Sara Affoue Amani, the ambassador for the Ivory Coast.

In London, according to a tweet by the palace, each of the 170 ambassadors and high commissions based there will have the audience of the Queen shortly after they take up their role.

Queen Elizabeth II appeared online wearing a blue floral dress and a pearl necklace, a far cry from the all-black outfit she donned during the two-week long official mourning period which recently ended.

This was, however, not her first public engagement since the death of Prince Philip. On April 14, four days after his passing, the British monarch attended a retirement ceremony that was held for a senior royal official, according to the Court Circular which is the official record of royal engagements.
