The new system requires the user to simply tap their phones or tokens against a reader
The placement of new Safeentry gateways that have been placed in malls, cinemas and other places with larger numbers of people has made the flow of people entering a much smoother experience.
It allows visitors to check-in by simply placing their mobile phones or Tracetogether tokens near the gateway device or box. If you are using your mobile phone, you need to have the Tracetogether app open before you tap in. The system operates much like the Ezlink operation on SMRT trains and public buses, which makes it easy and fast.

This new system has been on trial since March when the Smart Nation and Digital Government Group (SNDGG) announced that select locations which saw a large volume of visitors would have to deploy the system. Besides malls and cinemas, other locations such as large standalone shops, libraries, some museums and galleries, event venues, places of worship and funeral parlours with wake halls had the new system in place.
Now, more places such as popular wet markets, hospitals, polyclinics and more will have to use the new system.
