Unlike what Meghan and Harry claimed during their tell-all interview with Oprah, the couple did not actually tie the knot ahead of their broadcasted wedding ceremony
Recently, new information has surfaced that showed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did not actually marry three days before their broadcasted wedding ceremony in May 2018, as they had claimed in a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey earlier this month.

In the interview, Meghan told Oprah that Harry and herself had gotten married in their garden three days before their actual wedding ceremony. The couple mentioned that this ceremony was presided over by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
In the interview, the Duchess of Sussex is quoted as saying: “You know, three days before our wedding, we got married. No one knows that. We called the Archbishop and we just said, look―this thing, this spectacle is for the world. But we want our union between us―so the vows that we have framed in our room are just the two of us in our backyard with the Archbishop of Canterbury.”
However, the royal couple’s marriage certificate was recently obtained by The Sun newspaper and it confirms that their wedding officially happened on the same day that it was televised worldwide.

A former chief clerk at the Faculty Office, Stephen Borton, who also drew up the license was quoted by The Sun as saying that Meghan was “confused and clearly misinformed”.
He said: “The special license I helped draw up enabled them to marry at St George’s Chapel in Windsor and what happened there on 19 May 2018 and was seen by millions around the world was the official wedding as recognised by the Church of England and the law.”
Meghan and Prince Harry then admitted this week that they did not actually get secretly married before their wedding. A spokesperson for the royal couple clarified that they had exchanged personal vows but knew that this private event was not legal or official in any way, although this was not what the couple led viewers to believe during their interview with Oprah.
The news has cast doubt on the rest of Meghan and Harry’s controversial interview which also included other allegations such as Kate Middleton making Meghan cry during the week of the royal wedding, Prince Charles not taking Harry’s calls as well as racism within the royal family.
