The next generation of some of Singapore’s most influential families is making its mark on society and fuelling the growth of the luxury economy

We meet this cohort of young global citizens set to become the country’s most powerful tastemakers.

Crystal Piak, Clement Piak, Ruby Piak

Crystal wears nylon bodysuit by Heliot Emil, at Surrender; printed silk-blend dress by Christian Dada; Success ring in white gold with diamonds by Fred; Lavallière Strass Heel leather booties by Roger Vivier. Clement wears his own outfit. Ruby wears knit cotton top by Heliot Emil and Slash viscose trousers by Rokh, both at Surrender; sunglasses by Renoner X Justine Clenquet, at Coterie; Success ring in white gold with diamonds (worn on right hand) and Success Celebration ring in white gold with diamonds (worn on left hand), both by Fred; Juliettra leather, lace and tulle boots by Christian Louboutin

When your father is fashion maverick Jeffrey Piak, you’re bound to be influenced. This trio of siblings—Crystal owns an ice cream cafe, Clement works with dad at the family’s fire protection firm, Rico Engineering Works, while Ruby just graduated from Murdoch University in Australia—don’t just think of dad as their style icon, they see it as their right to pilfer from his Louis Vuitton‑skewed wardrobe.

Crystal Piak, 27

The most important lesson that my parents have taught me
My dad taught me that no one is indispensable.

Favourite item that my mum has handed down to me
It hasn’t happened yet, but my mum wants to gift me a pair of aquamarine earrings to me when I get married (so currently I am still waiting!). I was with her when she bought it in Hawaii at a Louis Vuitton High Jewellery event.

Favourite family tradition
I’m a beauty addict so I’ve become my family’s facial therapist. I do masks for my dad, groom my sibling’s eyebrows and when I had more time, I used to do my mum’s makeup when she had had to go out for parties.

Traits I inherited from my parents
To be family-orientated. Family is the most important thing to me. My dad’s busy with work but he always sets aside every Sunday evening for family dinner, and once a year, the whole family heads for a vacation.

Last family vacation
Seoul, over Lunar New Year this year. We spent a week there, and I would just like to add that my brother (Clement) ruined our last meal in Seoul. He was craving barbeque and made the entire family dinner eat at some random restaurant which turned out horrid.

Clement Piak, 30

Traits I inherited from my parents
From my dad: his work ethics. His commitment and dedication to his work are traits I grew up watching.

From my mum, I would like to say that I learned how to treat people with kindness. Growing up watching her at home and at work, I’ve seen how she is always patient with others.

Last thing you bought
My mom’s breakfast.

Style icon
My dad, of course!

Lust list
A 1970 Ford Mustang.

Favourite item that your dad has handed down to you
My first Rolex Yachtmaster. It was handed down to me by my dad after I graduated from junior college.

Ruby Piak, 25

The most important lesson that my parents have taught me
My parents always taught me not to depend on someone else for a solution, and instead, to try and find a solution myself.

Assumptions about me
People assume that since I've lived in Australia for so long, I don't want to return to Singapore. But being together with my family is very important, so right after I graduated I packed up and came home.

Traits I inherited from my parents
Determination from my father.

Last thing I bought
Foreo Iris eye massager for my mother.

My style in three words
Simple, comfortable, easy.
