Meet Guillaume Pichoir and Francesca Scarpa's boys: Malo and Arno Pichoir.

When brothers Malo and Arno Pichoir arrived at the studio to shoot the cover of Tatlings, they exuded confidence, riding their skateboards with such ease. Once the camera came out, however, the children of Guillaume Pichoir and Francesca Scarpaowners of food and beverage business, the Da Paolo Group—became slightly shy. After coaxing five-year-old Malo and his younger brother Arno to perform more tricks on the boards, they eventually warmed them up and posed like real pros.

Skateboarding tricks aside, the Pichoirs are well-behaved boys by nature. Malo was initially apprehensive about tying his hair into a top knot, but he relented after the stylist showed him a photo of a stylish skater with a similar do. The three-year-old Arno, however, needed a little more cajoling.

While Malo was hamming it up for the camera with his megawatt smile, Arno sulked until his mother Francesca persuaded him to look into the camera with the iPad as a “carrot”. It was a masterstroke and the two boys worked their magic in front of the camera, revealing their wonderful smiles, as well as their cheeky nature.

“Malo is very accommodating,” explained Francesca after the shoot. “Arno, on the other hand, is clearly more assertive.” Both boys are very sociable, and interacted with the adults with ease during and after the shoot. They spoke about toys and cartoons (they love dinosaurs and are fans of Iron Man and Lightning McQueen from Cars), as well as their likes and dislikes. Like their parents, the two boys told us that they really enjoy the outdoors.

Throughout the shoot, it was also clear to see that the brothers share a very close relationship. Whenever Arno asked for a toy that his elder brother was playing with, Malo—without much protest—would always give in and even teach his brother how to play with it. Such is the power of kinship, and we’re glad the first issue of Tatlings was able to capture it.
